School admissions 2011

Overview

  • In September 2020 those children who were born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 (inclusive) should start primary school.
  • The first time you will be contacted about your child’s primary school will be in September 2019. Leaflets that explains the application process will be made available from school maintained nurseries.
  • Parents will be advised to nominate/select/list three or more maintained schools in order of preference on their application including any schools outside Oldham.
  • All preferences listed on your application will be treated equally.  
  • If it is possible to offer a place at more than one school, the offer made will be to the highest ranking preference of the possible offers.
  • On 16 April 2020 all parents will be sent only one offer of one school place.
  • An email will be sent to you on 16 April 2020, or you can also log back into your account to view the offer made. Due to the Data Protection Act 2018, Oldham Council will not be able to inform parents over the phone which school has been offered.
  • If a place cannot be offered at any of the schools you requested, a place will be offered at the nearest school to your home address which still has vacant places.

Verifying your home address

The Authority may withdraw the offer of a place if it is discovered that false information has been supplied.

Giving false information could lead to prosecution.

If you have recently bought a property, a letter from your solicitor stating that you have exchanged contracts will be required. The contract must cover the closing date of applications, 15 January 2020.
